Recently, this 8 day old newborn visited my newborn studio. Now, as a Palatine photographer, featuring newborns, babies and families, I am fortunate they found me. And, this darling little baby was just wonderful to photograph.
To begin, we used a soft, little newborn outfit, a bear hat, and this adorable bed set up for our first few photos. Also, check out those little toes and leg hanging over the edge. Then, since this little one was sound asleep, it made it easy to do the bucket pose. Now, the bucket pose is one of the most asked for poses. Truthfully, it works best when baby is sound asleep like this one was. Sometimes, babies just want to be awake at their newborn session. Fortunately, I have been photographing newborns as a Palatine photographer for over 10 years, and know some tricks on how to get them sleepy for their session. Before your visit, I will send some tips to come prepared with a sleepy baby. Also, I will send a questionnaire. This way, the colors are focused toward your likes and desires of the session. Also, I will know what colors to avoid, as well, if there are some you just don’t prefer.
To finish, we went with this adorable swing set up. Here, I love how the swing, baby, and the stuffed animlal look together! After reviewing my portfolio, we can decide what set ups and colors you like for your newborn session.

These sweet images take me back to where my newborn photography journey began over 14 years ago.
When I first started, posed newborn photography was the style. Every image was carefully planned and thoughtfully created, requiring extensive training, hands-on workshops, and a deep understanding of newborn safety, comfort, and posing techniques. Creating those timeless curled-up poses wasn’t just about taking a photo, it was about learning an art form while always putting baby’s well-being first.
Over the years, newborn photography has evolved. Today, many families are drawn to a more natural, baby-led approach that focuses on genuine connection, movement, and simple moments. I absolutely love incorporating those elements into my sessions as well.
What makes my approach unique is that I continue to offer my signature posed newborn style while blending it with more natural, baby-led moments. This allows me to create a gallery filled with both beautifully crafted portraits and authentic images that reflect your baby’s personality.
While trends may change, there will always be something special about those classic newborn portraits—the ones that highlight just how tiny, precious, and brand new your little one is.
Which style do you love most: timeless posed portraits, natural baby-led moments, or a combination of both?
