I always love when I get a request for a family session—especially when that request comes from a friend! Sue and I met years ago and I feel so lucky to know her. She is an amazing person and her family is so lovely. We were originally brought together through the shared interest of photography, and although this is no longer something Sue does professionally, we still keep in touch, and she definitely knows the value of capturing her family’s memories. Which is why she reached out to me recently and asked if I would be her Palatine family photographer and help to create some updated photos of her beautiful family!
Outdoor settings are definitely my favorite when it comes to family portraits. I have several gorgeous outdoor locations that I return to again and again. I would be happy to give you some recommendations for scenic locales that will not disappoint!
For this session, we wanted a slightly rustic feel, so we chose an outdoor setting with lots of gold-green grass, trees, and stone. The backdrop was perfect, and so was the warm, almost smoky glow of the sunset!
As a Palatine family photographer, I also really like candid and natural poses—nothing that feels forced. I think family photo sessions should feel like playtime! So, while we can definitely do some posing and more traditional portraits, I’ll also capture moments in between poses—moments of fun, relaxation, and adventure. Sometimes these unplanned portraits end up being the favorites!
Sue and her family and I had such a wonderful evening together, and their family pictures are everything we hoped for!
Now is the perfect time to book your family photos for next year. My schedule fills up quickly, so if you don’t want to miss these precious moments with your little (or not-so-little) ones, please get in touch! I would love to document your family’s story.
