Lifestyle Studio Session with Baby Rivaan – 15 Days New

The weather here in Long Grove, Illinois is warming up just a little now and reminding me that spring is on the way! I’m not sure how that happened because it doesn’t feel that long ago that we were getting ready for Christmas. I had this sweet little one in my studio shortly before the holidays and he was so precious!

Mom found me before Rivaan was born, searching for a studio maternity and newborn photographer near their home in Huntley. We had a wonderful studio maternity session together, and a few weeks later it was time to welcome their precious bundle!

We decided to do a lifestyle studio session for Rivaan’s newborn pictures. I love capturing those fleeting first days in a setting that feels warm, cozy, and calm, and I try to make my studio feel like a home away from home for my wonderful clients.

Rivaan certainly seemed right at home here! He slept beautifully for me, and we captured an abundance of beautiful images that will be a true treasure for this family for many years to come.

She didn’t give me big smiles… and it was PERFECT.

One-year milestone sessions aren’t about forcing giggles — they’re about capturing your baby exactly as they are in this sweet season.

I recently photographed a beautiful baby girl turning ONE. She was a little shy, a little observant, and took her time warming up… and you know what? We captured her personality so beautifully. The curious looks. The quiet expressions. The little glances at mama. That’s what makes these sessions so special 🤍

If you’re planning a first birthday milestone session with me, here are a few tips to help everything go smoothly:

• Schedule around naps.
The happiest babies are well-rested babies. Avoid nap time and aim for when your little one is usually fed, happy, and refreshed.

• Bring a favorite comfort item.
A small toy or lovey can help them feel secure. I also recommend bringing a favorite snack — sometimes a tiny bribe works magic 😉

• Don’t stress about outfits or styling.
I provide everything — curated outfits, headbands, props, and beautiful setups. You truly don’t need to worry about a thing. Just show up and let me take care of the rest.

•We’ll plan ahead.
Before your session, we’ll chat about the look you’re hoping to achieve — soft and neutral, floral and whimsical, simple and timeless. I want your baby’s milestone to reflect your vision while keeping my clean, classic aesthetic.

And most importantly… come with realistic expectations. Not every one-year-old smiles on command — and that’s okay. Some of the most meaningful images come from the in-between moments 🤍

We celebrated baby Emilia’s first birthday with the sweetest cake smash at my studio 🤍

This setup was intentionally simple — all white, flooded with soft, angelic light. No distractions, no props competing for attention — just a clean, timeless backdrop that allowed Emilia to be the entire focus.

And once that cake was placed in front of her… she was all in. The smiles, the curiosity, the messy little fingers — she truly loved every second of it.
