Recently, I photographed this ten day old handsome boy! Fortunately, his parents were referred to me as a Lake Bluff newborn photographer by another local photographer who wasn’t available. Luckily, I had the availability to get them in for a newborn photo session. Now, I do book up months in advance, but sometimes I have a few openings.
To begin, we started with this adorable little bed basket prop. Here, baby King was sound asleep, and ready to let us take his photos! Before your session, I will send you tips to prepare for a great session all around.Next, we captured some family moments with baby and parents. Here, we went with a soft outfit and matching hat for a tummy time pose. Now, as a Lake Bluff newborn photographer, I have several outfits that can be used at your newborn photo shoot in studio. Here, when your dad is built like King’s dad, this makes for an amazing daddy and baby pose. Next, we did a basket cuddly pose, including a stuffed teddy bear. And, check out the little greenery in his pocket as a little touch!Next, we have the happy, excited and beautiful parents, so proud of their little bundle of joy. Here, his hair steals the show in this pose! To finish, we had to show how strong daddy is, but also how tiny King is! Now, be sure to check out my Facebook page here and Instagram here .

These sweet images take me back to where my newborn photography journey began over 14 years ago.
When I first started, posed newborn photography was the style. Every image was carefully planned and thoughtfully created, requiring extensive training, hands-on workshops, and a deep understanding of newborn safety, comfort, and posing techniques. Creating those timeless curled-up poses wasn’t just about taking a photo, it was about learning an art form while always putting baby’s well-being first.
Over the years, newborn photography has evolved. Today, many families are drawn to a more natural, baby-led approach that focuses on genuine connection, movement, and simple moments. I absolutely love incorporating those elements into my sessions as well.
What makes my approach unique is that I continue to offer my signature posed newborn style while blending it with more natural, baby-led moments. This allows me to create a gallery filled with both beautifully crafted portraits and authentic images that reflect your baby’s personality.
While trends may change, there will always be something special about those classic newborn portraits—the ones that highlight just how tiny, precious, and brand new your little one is.
Which style do you love most: timeless posed portraits, natural baby-led moments, or a combination of both?
