One of the things I love about doing Chicago maternity photography in the winter is that we have lots of snow! It’s not everywhere that you can get these kinds of beautiful winter shots.
I met this lovely couple at one of my favorite spots for snow and maternity sessions. It’s in the northwest suburbs of Chicago and it’s absolutely gorgeous. Looks and feels like you’re deep in the country, but it’s practically in our own backyard.
When I’m doing a maternity snow photography session I like to use really deep, vivid colors to contrast with all the white. Here, we chose a long, scarlet maternity gown that stands out beautifully against our winter backdrop.
You can’t beat Mother Nature for setting up superb backdrops for photography. I also love rustic buildings like the one below.
For something a little more natural, Mom changed into a black maternity gown with a plaid shawl. Not as striking as the red, but every bit as beautiful. I love how the plaid shawl reflects some of the colors in the landscape.
Totally up to you if you want to have your Chicago maternity photography session all to yourself or if you want to share it. You always have the option to bring your spouse along to join in the photo shoot. I love capturing that sweet relationship between couples as they prepare to welcome a new little life to their family!
Loved spending some time with this beautiful couple in our very own winter wonderland! I’ll see them again in April for a newborn photo session with their little girl. I’m so excited!
Chicago Winter Maternity Photographs
If you’re put off by the idea of an outdoor session in the middle of winter–don’t be! As you can see, winter is a beautiful time for an outdoor maternity photography session. I don’t think there’s any better place to record your pregnancy than in a setting provided by Mother Nature herself!
