I love the way these Chicago baby pictures turned out! Baby Liliana was 10 days old when she came to my Long Grove, Illinois newborn photography studio with her parents and older siblings. (I was also the Chicago newborn photographer for big sister two years ago, so it was extra fun to see her again. I can’t believe how fast the time goes!)

Mom and Dad loved the purples, so we used those almost exclusively. Some people like to mix a few different colors for their Chicago baby pictures. But a monochrome palette can also work really well. Just by using different shades of the same base color you can get some depth and variety while staying within a small color scheme. This is a great option if you have a particular favorite color, really want your baby pics to match the nursery, or want kind of a minimalist look but without the neutral colors.

You’d never know it to look at her, but Liliana was actually pretty fussy and didn’t like to be handled much. She did like being swaddled though. So we did mostly swaddle poses to keep her happy! Again, even though we were working almost exclusively with one pose, we used different props or disguised the swaddle with other blankets so we still have some variety. As a Chicago newborn photographer, I’ve found that there’s almost always a workaround!

Since the whole family was able to make it, we also got some pics with all three kiddos together. Love these newborn and sibling shots. So cute!
