Looking for a newborn photographer can be a lot of work, especially in an area like Chicago, where there are so many options available. How do you possibly find the time to do the research and narrow it down?
There are many ways to find recommendations for a great Chicago baby photographer: You can ask friends and family, use Google, or browse Instagram. But one of the easiest ways to find an amazing newborn photographer is by asking for recommendations in a local Facebook moms group.
This is exactly what sweet baby Nora’s mom did when she was looking for someone to capture photos of her little one. Say what you will about social media, Facebook groups can be a great way to find support in a likeminded community, including recommendations for local services. Mom already belonged to a Lincolnshire group and so she put out the word that she was looking for a newborn photography studio nearby and would welcome any suggestions.
Doing this allowed her to narrow down her search almost instantly, and I’m so happy it led her to me!
Facebook Groups: One of the Easiest Ways to Find Your Newborn Photographer
Here’s why I think Faceboook groups are one of the easiest ways to find recommendations for a photographer:
- Chances are, you’re already part of a local group, so asking around becomes easy
- You only have to ask once to get lots of great answers
- Recommendations will be local, which helps if most of your friends and family live far away and wouldn’t know who to recommend in your area
- You can easily message people to ask what they loved about a particular photographer—usually people are happy to share their experience!
- It’s reassuring to know that you have recommendations from real people who have actually interacted with that photographer, not just the top results from a search engine
Of course, you don’t have to limit yourself to just those newborn photographers who are recommended on Facebook. But it gives you a good place to start. From there, you can Google each photographer to check out their portfolio, pricing, and reviews, and decide on the best fit for you.
