Today, I am featuring an adorable newborn baby boy. As a Buffalo Grove newborn photographer, I look forward to building relationships with my clients. And, I hope that they continue to bring their babies back for milestone sessions. After, I hope I see them for family photos for years to come. Now, I am hoping sweet baby boy’s family is a new client for a lifetime!
Here, Mom and Dad wanted blues used at the photo shoot. So, we went with a blue background and hat, with some neutral white tones, as well. Now, I love this hat, but especially with a winter baby! And, since baby boy was so cooperative in the bucket, I was able to change his look by switching the hat. By the looks of his smile, I think he prefers the white hat!Next, we changed up the background, and went with all white for this comfy newborn outfit. As a Buffalo Grove newborn photographer, I have so many props to choose from. Before your newborn session, I send a questionnaire. That way, each newborn photo session is geared toward each family’s likes. So, I ask about color choices each family wants, and colors to avoid. Then, I plan the newborn session using several props, outfits, headbands/hats, wraps, blankets for each session. After, we went back to the blues. And, I love how stunning and simple this look is!To finish, we went with a dark blue/gray look for some wrapped images. Sweet baby boy was so good at his session, sleeping for all his photos!

His personality is really starting to shine through, and I loved seeing him again and capturing these special moments 🫶
What makes sessions like this even more special is when families continue to trust me with their memories year after year. I’ve photographed Cooper since he was a newborn and have also photographed his older brothers through the years. Despite living over an hour away, they continue to make the trip for their sessions, and I am so grateful for their support.
I look forward to capturing many more milestones for this wonderful family in the years ahead 🤍
These sweet images take me back to where my newborn photography journey began over 14 years ago.
When I first started, posed newborn photography was the style. Every image was carefully planned and thoughtfully created, requiring extensive training, hands-on workshops, and a deep understanding of newborn safety, comfort, and posing techniques. Creating those timeless curled-up poses wasn’t just about taking a photo, it was about learning an art form while always putting baby’s well-being first.
Over the years, newborn photography has evolved. Today, many families are drawn to a more natural, baby-led approach that focuses on genuine connection, movement, and simple moments. I absolutely love incorporating those elements into my sessions as well.
What makes my approach unique is that I continue to offer my signature posed newborn style while blending it with more natural, baby-led moments. This allows me to create a gallery filled with both beautifully crafted portraits and authentic images that reflect your baby’s personality.
While trends may change, there will always be something special about those classic newborn portraits—the ones that highlight just how tiny, precious, and brand new your little one is.
Which style do you love most: timeless posed portraits, natural baby-led moments, or a combination of both?
