What a delight to see this sweet family again. Mom originally found me two years ago when she was searching for a newborn photographer near their home in downtown Chicago to document memories of their first little one. After seeing my work on Instagram and learning that my studio in Long Grove was less than an hour away, she knew I was the perfect fit! Since I had taken big sister’s newborn pictures and knew the family, I was so happy when mom reached out to me again about Isla’s newborn photography session. It’s so exciting to watch these families grow!
Isla was 19 days new when she came to my studio for her newborn session. She did beautifully for me! We chose a few different shades of purple as our color scheme. I feel like this color works so well for dark-haired baby girls.
We also chose an elephant theme for Isla’s newborn photography session, which ended up being so cute! The composite image of an elephant cradling baby in its trunk is one of my most requested pictures for newborns. It is so sweet and magical, and parents love it. Since we knew we would be using that image, it seemed like a natural choice to include a tiny little elephant lovey for Isla to hold in some of our other shots.
I really love to take just one or two themes to weave throughout our session so that, while all the pictures are different, the collection feels cohesive. This makes it easy for families to create an album or photo wall that flows together nicely.
Isla’s parents booked my One Year of Memories collection, so I will be seeing her again for a 6-month and 12-month session. I am so excited to watch this little one grow!
If you are interested in a newborn session for your own little one, please be in touch. After all, elephants never forget, but we humans like to have something tangible we can look back on to remember our babies in all their sweetness.
