So, I recently added motherhood photography to my list of session offerings and wanted to share a bit more about it with all of you. These sweet mom and baby sessions truly have my heart!
What are Motherhood Photography Sessions?
Motherhood photography is different from maternity photography in that motherhood sessions happen after baby has arrived. They are also different from newborn sessions. This is because while I like to photograph newborns in the first two weeks after birth, motherhood sessions can happen any time! And while a newborn session will focus on baby, motherhood photography is all about capturing the beautiful bond between you and your little one.
The mother-child relationship is the key component in a motherhood session. You really don’t have to worry about formal poses. You and your baby will spend your time playing, cuddling, and just enjoying this special one-on-one time. We can even include breastfeeding photos if that’s something you would like.
When Should You Book a Motherhood Photography Session?
As I mentioned before, you can schedule motherhood portraits for any time. In my opinion, mother and baby photos are especially perfect for capturing early milestones. These happen when baby is still just a few months old. Your little one doesn’t need to be old enough to sit by themselves, as they would for a sitter session. We can still take the opportunity to record the smiles and snuggles as the two of you interact together.
Where do Motherhood Photo Sessions Take Place?
Currently, all motherhood photography sessions take place in my studio in Long Grove, near Chicago, Illinois. This is a light, bright, and airy space where we have everything we need to create beautiful portraits of your and your sweet baby. I have all the outfits and props, so we’ll style your session according to your preferences and you don’t have to stress about outfits or details like that. I have it all taken care of it for you!
